About Me
My ancestors immigrated from the Mediterranean island of Crete to Turkey during the late stages of Ottoman empire. They were directed to settle in the ancient roman town of Side which is located in the western part of the Turkish Mediterranean coast. My grandparents had to raise their 5 children under very tough conditions. My grandmother had endured more challenges with loss of two her sons after my grandfather passed away
My father won the right to attend the military school and, later became the first officer from Side. I was born in the town of Amasya during one of my father’s obligatory assignments. After living in several cities in different parts of Turkey, we finally moved to Ankara where I studied engineering in the Middle East Technical University (METU), one of the prestigious schools in Turkey. After graduating from METU, I received a scholarship from the Turkish Government to conduct advanced studies in petroleum engineering in the United States
I married my university sweetheart in Side in 1979 and we both moved to the USA. While working as a reservoir engineer in different parts of the world, we decided to construct an apart hotel in Side. Later, we sold this hotel and invested the proceedings for the construction of beach-front apartment complex in Alanya together with our Irish partners. When this project was successfully completed, we started a villa development project near Ilıca town at the Turkish Riviera together with a Dutch partner. This project was followed by successful completion of a commercial development in our family land within the central district of Antique Side. We are currently starting another commercial project in the central district of modern Side and aiming to start a beach hotel on a land owned by my family in the periphery of ancient Side.
I have two children and five grandchildren. We travel between Turkey and USA frequently and enjoy our times together with our loved ones. Me and my wife are both Certified Facilitators of The Work of Byron Katie. We conduct workshops frequently together with my wife and facilitate personal transformations.
